Day 324

Day 325

Today could be described as temptation - some I avoided, some I succumbed to.

It was Emery's birthday and started with breakfast birthday cake.  But no fears - I was strong.  I didn't have a single bite, despite the fact that Emery cut a piece and put it (literally) in my face and I had to say "no thank you."

Then we went out to pick my mom up at the airport and stopped at Chick Fil A.  I had a chargrilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard.  No problem.  It was good and only 300 calories.

But the problem came with dinner.  Emery wanted vodka pasta for dinner.  No problem.  I was going to make Jim and I a version without the heavy cream and butter, and with whole wheat pasta and just a little parmesan.  So I did.  And it was disgusting.  And Jim was heartbroken.  So I caved.  I mixed our pound of pasta with their two pounds of pasta.  And I had not 1, not 2, but 3 scoops.  Ugh.  But it was SOOO good.  And it was Emery's birthday.  And I avoided the cake again.

But, I did get a heart rate monitor while we were out.  And I didn't do much exercise b/c we were out for most of the day.

So... a better day today.

Day 326

It's going to be a better day today, I can already tell.

Started the day with an exercise video and muscles that are still sore, but not as bad as yesterday.  Our P90X should be arriving today.  Jim and I did Power 90 a year ago, but I'm still not sure of how much P90X we'll be able to accomplish.  Doesn't matter, we'll do what we can.

When we did Power 90, I wasn't too concerned about what I was eating, I was just trying to get more fit.  Now I'm ready to deal with cutting calories as well as the fitness, so we'll see what the results are.  I was down on my weight on the scale today, but I think that's because I skipped lunch yesterday, which was not a good thing.

I actually went food shopping before dinner when I dropped the boys at wrestling practice and that was pure torture.  While it is true that you should never go shopping when you're hungry, it's even more true that you should never go food shopping when you're cutting calories, have skipped lunch, and are starving.

Day 327

Not a very good day.  I began the day with everything hurting, but particularly my quads, glutes, and biceps.

Then I got swamped with a huge influx of orders and spent the day on my hurting glutes  printing postage.

The good news is that I ate barely anything, the bad news is that I didn't exercise at all.

Day 328

In 328 days I will be turning 40.  I'm not anxious or upset about it.  Instead, I'm motivated by it.

My goal is to be in the best shape of my life by the time I turn forty.  I figure that after forty, my health will naturally go downhill.  So if I'm going to get fit and be healthy enough to enjoy my adult children and (hopefully) grandchildren, now is the time to get started.

I've never been obese, but I've never been particularly fit either.  And I'm sick of it.  After having eight children, the belly is rather flabby. And that's where all my fat hangs out - not on my hips or thighs, but right at my waist.

And "they" say that is the unhealthiest fat to have.

So.  I am waging war.  I have 328 days to get fit.  Not just a little fit, but really fit.  Kick butt kinda fit.

I began this blog to have a record of my challenges and successes.  While I was trying to name the blog, it was amazing the number of blogs with titles similar to this one.  I decided to check them out and the saddest part was that 95% of them have a few posts.  People who started and then quit.

That in itself is motivation.

On to some statistics (I'm a math geek at heart, so I love numbers).

Waist: 30"
Hips: 35"
Chest: 32.5"
Right arm: 9.75"
Right thigh: 18.25"
Right Forearm: 8.5"
Right Wrist: 5.5"
Weight: 102.8 lbs

BMI: 20
Body Fat: 33%
BMR: 1200

So, other than to get fit, what are my specific goals?

Weight: 95 lb
Body Fat: 22%
That would mean losing 13 pounds of fat and gaining 5 pounds of muscle.  Sounds do-able.

Day 328 Summary:
Treadmill: 20 minutes of power 8's at 8.5 mph, 190 calories, 1.38 miles, ~2500 steps

Breakfast: smoothie 500 calories
Lunch: flat bread with spinach, homemade salsa, half an avocado 225 calories
Dinner: tortilla, beans, 1/2 avocado, lettuce, spinach, peppers, onions, salsa 550 calories
